Remedial massage is a type of complementary therapy the main purpose is to identify the underlying cause of any Musculo-skeletal conditions and treating muscles that are damaged, tense, knotted or immobile.
Although any massage can offer holistic benefits to mind and body however remedial massage is more than just a deep tissue massage, it’s helpful against a number of problems from affecting tight and painful muscles, bones, fascia, ligaments and tendons to helping with scar tissue and realign muscle tissue with the aim to restore the body to pain free and a balanced state.
Most people seek remedial massage to help with their pain, discomfort or stress, this includes those who are struggling with body issues due to inactivity through a sedentary desk job or courier drivers, traders or a medical condition which restricts physical activity.
I am genuinely interested in rehabilitation and I want to make healthy living more accessible to my clients who want to improve their health and wellbeing. The first step is to discover your inner strength and power to self-care and take responsibility for your choices that have an impact on your health and wellbeing.
I will encourage body awareness and home activities ranging from stretching techniques or yoga poses, pranayama (breathing exercise) meditation tips that can be used to help reduce muscle tension to promote relaxation. At times I would recommend you to purchase remedy tools for e.g. yoga belts, balls spikes, form rollers to release myofascial or target trigger points that may relieve aches and pains etc. The benefit of your home activities makes it more worthwhile for your body and more cost effective for your wallet.
Consult is necessary especially for those with injuries or medical conditions. During your consultation we discuss your current conditions, review your history including past and present medical notes.

A Trigger point is an involuntary contracted, tight and tender point within a muscle. Myofascial is a spider web like substance which surrounds the muscles, bones and vital organs all over the body.
The word myofascial means muscle tissue (myo) and the connective tissue in and around it (fascia). Myofascial pain often results from muscle injury or repetitive strain. When stressed or injured, muscles often form trigger points, like contracted knots, that cause pain and tightness.
Myofascial trigger points are an extremely common cause of pain. Trigger points are painful when pressed on, cause a shortening of the muscle fibers, and have a special property called referred pain. Referred pain means that a trigger point in one muscle can create pain in another area.
Cupping therapy (CT) involves placing specialised suctions cups (usually made of glass, silicon, or plastic) onto the skin. Suction is created inside the cups either by means of burning cotton or any other flammable substance or by using a suction machine/pump. The resulting suction draws the superficial tissues of the skin into the cup. The suction creates negative pressure which encourages the flow of blood and lymph to the skin, breaks up and drains stagnation, facilitates rigid soft tissue release, and loosens connective tissues.
Cupping is a very safe and non-invasive massage technique used by remedial massage therapists to relieve pain and to increase blood flow.
Oil is first applied to the skin then the cups (usually made of glass or silicon) a suction creates the superficial tissue of the skin into the cup. The suction creates a negative pressure as the cups move up and down stretching and releasing muscles, connective tissue (fascia) encourages blood flow to the area of concern.
As a result of this pressure, bruise marks may be left on the skin, the mark usually represents the stagnant blood flow in the tight muscle that has been cupped. These marks will usually last for up to a week, fading as your body metabolises over days to follow.
